:(

i miss my doggie. i've never really experienced death on this level...i mean my grandparents have died but i was never really close to them. i can't believe she is gone and i will never snuggle with her again. i wish i could have prevented it, but i suppose we did the best we could.

snow

i hope it snows today.

belief in perfection

the creative process can be really frustrating. i've always put too much pressure on myself to be perfect. now, perfection is creating an image that affects people...many people.

there is no formula. you have to trust your instincts and make something that you feel is great, deep down inside. but there seems to be a catch 22. sometimes ill really believe in something, and it wont get any response. other times, it'll be something insubstantial that people love, and i sortof knew it was good but didnt place too much importance on it. the more you try to please others the more you displease yourself. which is ironic, because i'm trying to do both. i suppose it isnt black and white.

there is what you believe to be good and what others believe to be good. in between the two, perfection may show up.

(and i do love a momentary belief in perfection)

aol and doctor's

im at my moms in ridgefield...she's got old school internet...a modem! and she's still using aol. who uses aol nowadays anyway? i had a doctor's appt this morning....god i fucking hate going to the doctor more than anything. it seems like they try to make you uncomfortable. and when the receptionist asks you for your insurance card, (and you don't have insurance) they get really quiet and avoid eye contact like you are some kind of scumbag. and the doctor's assistant. she told me she doesn't like her job and wants to change careers but she's too old. that's not very comforting to hear. i don't like my doctor much...she rushes everything and doesn't really seem to care about what you're telling her...she just looks at the numbers and tells you you're fine. with the lack of insurance and the shitty health care system i think that's why i only go to the doctor every 4 years.

bragging rights

my younger brother is a game artist working on a new xbox 360/playstation 3 game called Frontlines: Fuel of War.  the game is featured in game informer, that just came out today.  next month the game will be in another mag with a full cover and 9 page article...and his name will be mentioned.  super cool.

from wikipedia!...

The story behind Frontlines: Fuel of War is that it is set 20 years in the future, as the world’s dependence on oil increases, so does the tensions. As economies start to crumble, countries are forced to secure what resources they feel are rightfully theirs. Quickly, small outbreaks turn into a full scale war. This causes new alliances to be formed, the roots of some can be traced back to present day.

Can You Die If You Drink Too Much Water?

Stew Smith: Can You Die If You Drink Too Much Water?

Stew Smith is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a former Navy SEAL, and author of several fitness and self defense books such as The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness, and Maximum Fitness. As a military fitness trainer, Stew has trained hundreds of students for Navy SEAL, Special Forces, Air Force PJ, Ranger Training, and other physical law enforcement professions. His eBooks at Military.com can help you achieve your fitness goals, whether you're a beginner or an expert.

This week, a concerned Army Reservist asks, "I have heard about people dying of drinking too much water. Is this possible?" This is a great question because so many times this issue is taken out of context causing people to stop drinking water altogether.

When you read about people who die or get kidney damage "from drinking too much water" you are only hearing half of the story. The other half of the story is often overlooked. These people die or are seriously injured internally from over-hydration with insufficient replacement of sodium, which is called dilutional hyponatremia. The documented cases are from participants in long distance running or ultra endurance events lasting longer than four hours of continuous, sweaty, activity. Sports replacement drinks mixed with water are the best source of electrolytes and can be of significant help in avoiding hyponatremia in long distance athletic events or long, hot and humid days of rigorous outdoor work.

The regular person in America, who does not exercise at all or that rigorously, needs water to lose weight. If the body does not receive adequate amounts (1-2 quarts a day), you will actually start to retain water causing a net gain in weight and the liver to cease metabolizing fat at a normal rate. Basically, your metabolism will slow to a point where fat and water is now being store by the body UNTIL it receives the proper amounts of water. An easy equation with the elements of weight loss is:

Water + Oxygen = Weight loss

Drinking water plus physical activity where you breathe at a higher heart rate (ie aerobic activity like walking, jogging, swimming, biking, resistance training etc.) will ultimately lead to weight loss. Not only will you release retained water - ending the bloated and puffy feeling, but your metabolism will burn fat at a higher rate than before you started adding sufficient water intake to your diet. If you are significantly overweight (50-100lbs), you need to add more water to your diet than the minimum recommended daily amount. Some experts agree that the intake should be another 6-8 oz. of water for every 10-20 lbs overweight.

The bad news is that coffee, tea, diet drinks, alcohol, and nicotine are diuretics meaning they actually will dehydrate you. These drinks should not count as your 1-2 quarts a day of daily water consumption. If you think you maybe retaining water, try adding up to a gallon of water a day and you could lose about five to ten pounds of retained water in a few short days. I have seen people lose up to twenty in a week by ONLY adding water to their diet.

NOTHING EXTERNAL TO YOU HAS POWER OVER YOU

Great things are accomplished when you believe
that what's inside of you is superior to your circumstances.
What you have outside you counts less than what you have inside you.

You're more important than any of your problems.
You're bigger than anything that can happen to you.

Courage is a special kind of knowledge.
It's the knowledge of how to fear what ought to be feared
and how not to fear what ought not to be feared.

True courage is a result of reasoning.
A brave mind is always impregnable.

Reality is something you rise above.
